Proof that the work holds up.

Caliper QA tests the systems that cost real money when they break: payments, quote-to-cash, the APIs underneath them, and the AI features now making decisions inside both. Run by one senior engineer with nineteen years in enterprise systems — the person on the call is the person who does the work.

What I test

Four practice areas, one operator. Engagements run as fixed-scope projects, monthly retainers, or blocks of hours.

Auditable verification of AI-generated work

Healthcare, finance, and insurance teams are shipping AI features into processes that get examined later. The question is not whether the model sounds right. It is whether you can show, months from now, how a given output was checked and what happened when it failed. I build that record.

  1. DiagnoseMap where AI output enters your process, what a wrong answer costs, and what evidence you are missing today.
  2. ExecuteBuild the evaluation set, run it against your feature, and document failure modes with reproducible cases.
  3. VerifyHand over a scored report, a regression suite your team can rerun, and the paper trail for whoever asks.

Salesforce CPQ and quote-to-cash

Pricing rules that fire in the wrong order, quotes that do not match the invoice, renewals that quietly drop a discount. I audit the full path from quote to cash, including Logik.io configurations, and give you the failing cases in writing.

API and performance testing

Four years of this on a banking platform: endpoints validated under load, latency and throughput measured before a release rather than after an incident, and the breaking point found on purpose. REST and GraphQL, JMeter and BlazeMeter, with the results read against what your infrastructure actually does.

Quality engineering and automation

Test strategy, automation frameworks that survive contact with a release schedule, integration coverage, and a plan for the flaky suite nobody trusts anymore.

Data, BI, and reporting

Reconciliation between source systems and dashboards, validation of the numbers leadership acts on, and checks that keep running after I leave.

Release readiness reviews

A short, fixed-scope look at whether a specific release is safe to ship: coverage gaps, risk ranking, and the three things worth fixing first.

QA process assessment

For teams whose testing grew by accident. I review how work moves from ticket to production, then hand back a written plan your team can run without me.

How an engagement runs

  1. Call

Thirty minutes, free. You describe the system and what you are afraid of. I tell you whether I am the right person.

  2. Proposal

Within three business days: scope, price, dates, and what you receive. If it is not a fit, I say so and point you elsewhere.

  3. Work

Weekly delivery with a status note. No silence between kickoff and the final report.

  4. Handover

Findings, reproducible cases, and anything automated stays with you. Thirty days of support afterwards.

Tools I work in

Whatever you already use comes first. These are the ones I know well enough to be productive in on day one.

Who you are hiring

I am Fabián Arce. Nineteen years in enterprise systems, eleven of them in quality engineering. Before that I built ETL pipelines and reporting systems for Procter & Gamble, which is why reconciliation work comes naturally: I have been on both sides of the data, building the pipeline and then breaking it.

Most of my career has been spent on software that moves money. Four years owning quality end to end on a digital banking platform — accounts, authorization, interbank transfers, check processing, and the reconciliation between them. Then Salesforce CPQ and Logik.io at Teradyne: product configuration, pricing rules, approvals, bundles, discounts, and everything downstream to invoicing. Caliper QA is how I take that work directly to the teams that need it, without a layer of account managers in between.

Most of what I find lives at the edges. The order with one line item priced at zero. The renewal that crosses a fiscal year. The customer record with an apostrophe in the name. The AI response that is confidently wrong only when the input is empty. Happy paths get tested by everyone; the cases that reach production untested are the ones nobody thought to write down, and finding them is the part of this work I am best at.

I work from Heredia, Costa Rica, in US time zones, and I contract as an independent professional. The person on the call is the person who runs the tests and writes the report.
